Many livestock farms have a strong focus on breeding and genetics, in order to strive for improvement in the future.

Through the Net Zero scheme, we have developed Key Performance Indicators for breeding and genetics covering in the beef scheme for example:

- Calves born alive per viable breeding female

- Average age at first calving

- % of calves born in first 3/6 weeks of calving

- Average calving interval (days)

We are also completing trials at our Blueprint farms using advanced breeding technologies such as body condition and pelvic hip scoring, and blood testing for protein and trace elements to tighten the calving pattern of herds and maximise high quality genetics with the help of vets from RAFT Solutions.
