In 2019 we launched the Next Generation Producer Group at Woodheads with 20 suppliers on the first intake. The group is designed to show suppliers our unique vertically integrated field to fork supply chain as well as hosting discussion groups and talks on key topics. It also provides our suppliers networking opportunities to share knowledge with each other.
After being interrupted by Covid-19, we hosted the second session of the Woodheads Next Generation Producer Group with the 2021/22 cohort. A group of 14 suppliers attended a two day event. Day one consisted of a day at Morrisons head office, Hilmore House, Bradford which included a Retail talk our Beef buyer, a steak tasting panel, a session on developing communication skills and a talk by Nuffield Scholar Richard Pennock. The second day focussed on a Farm to Fork session at Chippindale Foods Ltd, visiting a poultry farm and a tour of the manufacturing site, with the afternoon focusing on key topics with Sophie Throup, Head of Agriculture at Morrisons.
